Impact on the System

Service bit errors may occur on the receive side at the opposite end or frames cannot be aligned at the opposite end. As a result, the services are unavailable, and even are interrupted.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The optical module is deteriorating.
  • The optical module is faulty.
  • The board that reports the OUT_PWR_ABN alarm is faulty.


  1. Using an optical power meter, check whether the transmit optical power of the board is within the specified range.

    If... Then...

    The transmit optical power of is out of range

    The optical module is deteriorating or faulty. Replace the optical module. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The transmit optical power of is within the specified range

    Go to the next step.

  2. Replace the board that reports the OUT_PWR_ABN alarm.
