Description

The FIBER_ASYMMETRIC_CHANGED alarm indicates a fiber deviation change.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Name Meaning

Parameter 1

Indicates the alarm type.

  • 0x01: ring-network compensation alarm
  • 0x02: performance threshold-crossing alarm
NOTE:

If the alarm is a performance threshold-crossing alarm, Parameters 2 to 6 are unavailable.

Parameter 2

Indicates the fiber deviation direction.

  • 0x00: positive
  • 0x01: negative

Parameter 3 to Parameter 6

Indicate the fiber deviation value after the change. The value 0xfffff indicates that the fiber deviation value must be manually measured.

Impact on the System

A fiber deviation change causes a time synchronization failure.

Possible Causes

After a fiber is replaced, the fiber deviation value changes.

Procedure

  1. Check whether any NEs on the primary and secondary paths report the TIME_LOCK_FAIL alarm on the NMS.
    If… Then...

    The TIME_LOCK_FAIL alarm is reported

    Clear the TIME_LOCK_FAIL alarm and then measure the fiber deviation value. For details, see Testing the Compensation for Fiber Asymmetry Delay in Commissioning Guide. Then re-configure the fiber deviation value. For details, see Configuring the Cable Transmission Offset Between NEs in Feature Description.

    No TIME_LOCK_FAIL alarm is reported

    Re-configure the deviation direction and value according to the alarm parameters. For details, see Configuring the Cable Transmission Offset Between NEs in Feature Description.

  2. Check whether the FIBER_ASYMMETRIC_CHANGED alarm is cleared. If the FIBER_ASYMMETRIC_CHANGED alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
