Description

The LASER_MOD_ERR_EX alarm indicates that the hot swapping optical module on the line board does not match the optical port on the line board.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The type of the optical module installed is incorrect.

  • The optical module or line board is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the optical module installed matches the optical port on the line board. If they do not match, replace the optical module with one of the correct type.
  2. Check on the U2000 whether the LASER_MOD_ERR_EX alarm is cleared.
    If... Then...

    The alarm is cleared

    No further action is required.

    The alarm persists

    Go to the next step.
  3. If the alarm persists, the optical module or line board is faulty. Replace the optical module. If the alarm still persists, replace the line board.

    The pluggable optical module on the line board supports hot swap.
