The PATCH_INIT_FAIL alarm indicates that the patch initialization fails. This alarm is reported after the patch initialization fails and the device or board is reset.

Equipment alarm


When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Indicates the cause of a patch initialization failure.

  • 0x01: software version mismatch
  • 0x02: board type mismatch
  • 0x03: incorrect patch status
  • 0x04: failure to obtain a patch file list
  • 0x05: patch file mismatch
  • 0x06: patch loading failure
  • 0x07: patch activation failure
  • 0x08: patch submission failure
  • 0xff: other error causes

Impact on the System

The patch may not take effect on the NE.

Possible Causes

The possible cause of the PATCH_INIT_FAIL alarm is as follows:

The patch initialization fails due to a patch file, version, or status error.


  1. View the alarm information on the NMS. For details, see Viewing the Current Alarms.
  2. Determine the cause of the patch initialization failure based on the alarm information, and perform operations accordingly.

    If... Then...

    The patch fails to be loaded, activated, or submitted

    Load the patch again. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.

    The software version, board type, or patch file does not match, the patch status is incorrect, the patch file list fails to be obtained, or other errors occur

    To diagnose the fault according to SWDL logs, go to 3.

  3. Contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
