The LP_REI alarm indicates remote bit errors in the lower order path. This alarm is generated when a board detects that bit 3 of the V5 byte is 1 or any of bits 1-4 of the G1 byte is 1.

Possible Causes

The possible cause of this alarm is as follows:

  • The LP_REI alarm is a correlated alarm. When the tributary board at the opposite end detects a bit error alarm, such as BIP_SD, BIP_EXC, B3_SD, or B3_EXC, the tributary board sends the LP_REI alarm to the local end.


  1. Clear the BIP_SD, BIP_EXC, B3_SD, or B3_EXC alarm. Then, the LP_REI alarm is automatically cleared.
