CHCS

CHCS

Description

The CHCS alarm indicates that a correctable bit error occurs in the cell header.

NOTE:

The CHCS alarm cannot be detected at a VC-12 VCTRUNK port.

Attribute

Alarm Severity Alarm Type

Minor

Communication alarm

Parameters

None.

Impact on the System

Services are not affected. This alarm only indicates that some cells with bit errors are detected during port cell delimitation.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the CHCS alarm are as follows:

  • Bit errors occur in the SDH service receive path connected to the alarmed ATM port where the alarm is reported. That is, alarms such as B1_SD, B2_SD, or B3_SD, occur in the SDH service receive path connected to the alarmed ATM port.
  • The ATM processing chip on the alarmed board is faulty.

Procedure

  1. On the U2000, check whether the SDH service receive path reports alarms indicating excessive bit errors, such as B1_SD, B2_SD, and B3_SD.

    If... Then...

    Such alarms are reported

Clear these alarms and check whether the CHCS alarm is cleared. If the CHCS alarm persists, go to the next step.

    No such alarms are reported

    Go to the next step.

  2. Reset (cold) or reseat the board that reports the CHCS alarm, and then check whether the CHCS alarm is cleared.

    If... Then...

    The CHCS alarm persists

    Go to the next step.

    The CHCS alarm is cleared.

    No further operation is required.

If the services on the alarmed board are not protected, a cold reset on the board causes service interruption.

  3. Optional: Replace the board that reports the CHCS alarm, and then check whether the CHCS alarm is cleared. If the CHCS alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.

    NOTE:
The CHCS alarm does not affect services but resetting (cold) or replacing the board interrupts the services. Therefore, it is recommended that you do not perform reset (cold) or replace the board.
