The CES_STRAYPKT_EXC alarm indicates that the average number of error packets exceeds the upper threshold value within one second, this alarm is reported. If the average number of error packets in a second is smaller than the lower threshold value in another period, this alarm is cleared automatically.

Alarm Severity Alarm Type

Communication alarm

Impact on the System

After detecting a packet that does not belong to the CES service, the NNI port discards the packet. As a result, the packet loss rate is too high.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the CES_STRAYPKT_EXC alarm are as follows:

  • The parameter settings for the NEs at both ends of the CES service are inconsistent.
  • The physical link is connected incorrectly.

  1. Check whether the parameter settings (for example, 64K Timeslot) are consistent on the NEs at the local and opposite ends of the CES service.
  2. If the parameters settings are inconsistent at both ends, change the parameters settings to be the same and then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.
  3. Check whether the optical fibers or cables are correctly connected between both ends. If the optical fibers or cables are incorrectly connected between both ends, rectify the fiber/cable connections or change the service configurations.
  4. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
