MRING_OAM_UNEXPMEG_E is an alarm indicating that a east port on an MPLS-TP ring receives an unexpected MEG ID. This alarm occurs when a east port on an MPLS-TP ring receives an incorrect MEG ID.

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Impact on the System

This alarm may trigger APS switching on the MPLS-TP ring.

Possible Causes

A possible cause of the alarm is as follows:

  • Cause: A physical link connection is incorrect so that the node IDs of the neighbor NEs do not match.

    As shown in Figure 4-29, a correct link connection should be connecting NE1 and NE3 through NE2. When a west port on NE1 is connected to an east port on NE3, due to the fact that the node IDs of NE1 and NE3 do not match, the west port on NE1 reports an MRING_OAM_UNEXPMEG_W alarm and the east port on NE3 reports an MRING_OAM_UNEXPMEG_E alarm.



  1. Cause: A physical link connection is incorrect so that the node IDs of the neighbor NEs do not match.
    1. As shown in Figure 4-29, check whether link connections on the MPLS-TP ring are correct. If an incorrect link connection exists, make it correct.
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
