Description

The E1_LOS alarm indicates that 2 Mbit/s line signals (E1 signals) are lost.

The E1_AIS alarm is inserted into the cross-connect unit on the 2 Mbit/s tributary board.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The cable connector is loosely connected, or the cable is broken.
  • The upstream PDH equipment is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the cable connector is loosely connected or the cable is broken.
  2. If the cable connector is loosely connected or the cable is broken, rectify the fault. Then, check on the U2000 whether the E1_LOS alarm is cleared.

    If... Then...
    The alarm is cleared No further action is required.
    The alarm persists Go to the next step.

  3. Check whether the upstream PDH equipment is faulty.
  4. If the upstream PDH equipment is faulty, rectify the fault. Then, check on the U2000 whether the E1_LOS alarm is cleared.

    The alarm is cleared No further action is required.
    The alarm persists Go to the next step.

  5. Check the board that reports the E1_LOS alarm at the local end. Reset or replace the board to clear the alarm.
