Description

The TEMP_OVER alarm indicates that the operating temperature of the alarmed board is higher than the upper threshold or lower than the lower threshold.

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Indicates the threshold-crossing type of the board operating temperature.

  • 0x01: The operating temperature of the alarmed board is higher than the upper threshold.
  • 0x02: The operating temperature of the alarmed board is lower than the lower threshold.

Impact on the System

The system is in a highly dangerous state. If the system runs in this state for a long time, bit errors may occur, the service may be interrupted, and the board may be burnt. Therefore, this alarm must be handled timely.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • Cause 1: Dust builds up at the heat dissipation vents.
  • Cause 2: Fans rotate at a speed lower than the rated speed or stop working.
  • Cause 3: The ambient temperature is higher than 55°C or lower than -5°C due to a fault on the cooler or heater equipment.
  • Cause 4: The alarmed board is faulty.
  • Cause 5: The configuration of the upper and lower threshold of the temperature alarm is not proper.

Procedure

  1. Cause 1: Dust builds up at the heat dissipation vents.
    1. Check whether dust builds up at the heat dissipation vents, causing poor heat dissipation. Place your hands at the air exhaust vent to feel the wind.
    2. If dust builds up at the heat dissipation vents and heat dissipation is poor, clear the heat dissipation vents.
    3. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 2.
  2. Cause 2: Fans rotate at a speed lower than the rated speed or stop working.
    1. Check operation statuses of fans in the subrack. Handle the FAN_AGING or FAN_FAIL alarm if any.
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.
  3. Cause 3: The ambient temperature is higher than 55°C or lower than -5°C due to a fault on the cooler or heater equipment.
    1. Check the ambient temperature of the telecommunications room. If the temperature is higher than 55°C or lower than -5°C, use a cooler or heater to decrease or increase the ambient temperature.

    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 4.
  4. Cause 4: The alarmed board is faulty.
    1. Check whether the alarmed board is functional. If the alarmed board is faulty, replace it.
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 5.
  5. Cause 5: The configuration of the upper and lower threshold of the temperature alarm is not proper.
    1. Contact Huawei technical support personnel to check the upper and lower temperature thresholds and the current operating temperature, and determine whether the alarm is falsely reported.
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support personnel to handle the alarm.
