MPLS_TUNNEL_UNKNOWN

MPLS_TUNNEL_UNKNOWN

Description

The MPLS_TUNNEL_UNKNOWN alarm indicates that certain unknown defects exist on the tunnel. This alarm is reported if the type or time period of continuity check (CC) packets that are received within a certain time (three times the period) are different from the expected type or period.

Parameters

None.

Impact on the System

The OAM function is affected.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the MPLS_TUNNEL_UNKNOWN alarm are as follows:

  • The OAM settings differ between both ends. For example, the type of packets to be checked or the check period differs between both ends.
  • The NE receives packets from an unknown source NE.

Procedure

  1. If the MPLS_TUNNEL_UNKNOWN alarm is transiently reported, check whether the OAM settings (including the type of packets to be checked and the check period) at both ends are modified.
  2. If the OAM settings are modified, the MPLS_TUNNEL_LOCV alarm may be reported after the MPLS_TUNNEL_UNKNOWN alarm is transiently reported. After confirming that the OAM settings are consistent between both ends, check whether the alarm is cleared. For details, see the Configuration Guide.
  3. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If not, go to 4.
  4. Check whether any service is configured between the local NE and the unknown source NE or whether the NE is connected to the unknown source NE due to an incorrect fiber connection.
  5. If yes, change the service configuration or fiber connection.
