RMON Event of the Ethernet Service Description

RMON Event of the Ethernet Service Description

Ethernet service performance events indicate the transmission quality of the Ethernet services. This topic lists the main RMON events in the packet domain.

The current performance statistics of an RMON performance item are the count of performance events within the current sampling period (which is usually a few seconds). The historical performance statistics of an RMON performance item are calculated using the corresponding method based on counts in sampling periods within a specific statistical period. Table 5-119 lists calculation methods for historical performance statistics.

Table 5-119  Classification of performance Counting Methods

Performance Counting Method

Calculation Method

Accumulated value

Accumulates the counts in all sampling periods within a statistical period and takes the accumulated value as the historical performance count.

Maximum value obtained among all sampling periods

Takes the maximum value among counts in all sampling periods within a statistical period as the historical performance count.

Minimum value obtained among all sampling periods

Takes the minimum value among counts in all sampling periods within a statistical period as the historical performance count.

Value obtained in the last sampling period

Takes the count of the last sampling period within a statistical period as the historical performance count.

Average value of counts in all sampling periods

Takes the average value of counts in all sampling periods within a statistical period as the historical performance count.

NOTE:
  • The names of RMON performance entries may vary with the version of the NMS.
  • Performance count: indicates the accumulated statistical value of a specific RMON performance event.
  • Threshold unit: indicates the statistical value of a specific RMON performance event obtained within a unit time.
