The MPLS_TUNNEL_SD alarm indicates that the tunnel signal degrades. This alarm is reported when the CC packet loss ratio is higher than the SD threshold but is lower than the SF threshold.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the MPLS_TUNNEL_SD alarm are as follows:

  • An excessive number of bit errors occur.
  • The bandwidth of the tunnel is exhausted.
  • Another service carrier layer is faulty.


  1. On the U2000, check whether an alarm indicating excessive bit errors is reported. If yes, clear the alarm. Check whether the MPLS_TUNNEL_SD alarm is cleared.
  2. If the MPLS_TUNNEL_SD alarm persists, go to 3.
  3. On the U2000, check whether the allocated bandwidth is exhausted. If yes, expand the bandwidth allocated to the tunnel or eliminate the source that transmits a large amount of invalid data. Check whether the MPLS_TUNNEL_SD alarm is cleared.
  4. If the MPLS_TUNNEL_SD alarm persists, go to 5.
  5. On the U2000, check whether another service carrier layer, such as the Ethernet layer, is faulty. If yes, rectify running exceptions of the MPLS OAM protocol or setting inconsistency.
