The TU_AIS alarm is a TU alarm indication signal. If a board detects that the signals in the TU path are all "1"s, the TU_AIS alarm is reported.

Alarm Severity Alarm Type

Communication alarm

Impact on the System

When the TU_AIS alarm occurs, the service in the alarmed TU path is interrupted. If the service is configured with protection, the protection switching is also triggered.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the TU_AIS alarm are as follows:

  • Configuration data is incorrect.
  • The line is faulty.
  • The board at the opposite end is faulty.
  • The board at the local end is faulty.

  1. Check whether SDH services are correctly configured. If the configuration is incorrect, modify it. If the configuration is correct, go to 2.
  2. Check whether line alarms that cause AIS insertion are reported on the service trail. If these alarms exist, clear them. If these alarms do not exist, go to 3.
  3. Check whether the fault occurs on the local or peer NE. If the fault occurs on the peer NE, go to 4. If the fault occurs on the local NE, go to 5.
  4. Replace the faulty board on the peer NE. If the alarm persists, go to 6. If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required.
  5. Replace the board on the local NE where the line unit resides. If the alarm persists, go to 6. If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required.
  6. Replace the board that reports the alarm. If the TU_AIS alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
