Description

The MPLS_PW_SF alarm indicates that the signals on a PW degrade severely. This alarm is reported when the loss ratio of CC packets exceeds the SF threshold.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the MPLS_PW_SF alarm are as follows:

  • An excessive number of bit errors occur.
  • The PW bandwidth is fully occupied.
  • The surface of an optical fiber or optical module is dirty.

Procedure

  1. On the U2000, query the performance statistics on Ethernet ports to check whether bit errors or FCS error frames are generated.
    If... Then...

    Bit errors or FCS error frames are generated

    Handle the performance events, and check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    Bit errors or FCS error frames are not generated

    Go to the next step.

  2. Check whether the PW bandwidth PW is exhausted.
    If... Then...

    The bandwidth is exhausted

    Increase the PW bandwidth or eliminate any source that transmits a large amount of invalid data, and check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The bandwidth is not exhausted

    Go to the next step.

  3. Check whether the physical link is connected incorrectly, for example, whether any optical cables are broken, any optical ports are dirty or damaged, or the bend radius of the fiber patch cord is less than 7.5 mm.
    If... Then...

    The physical link is connected incorrectly

    Reconnect the optical fibers, clean optical ports, or reroute the fiber patch cord, and check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The physical link is connected correctly

    Go to the next step.

  4. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
