Description

The BRDCASTRATIO_OVER alarm indicates that the ratio of broadcast traffic exceeds the threshold. This alarm is reported when the ratio of broadcast and multicast packets to all packets exceeds the specified threshold and the port traffic is greater than or equal to 10 Mbit/s.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

  • 0x00: receive direction
  • 0x01: transmit direction

Possible Causes

The possible causes of the BRDCASTRATIO_OVER alarm are as follows:

  • Cause 1: The threshold is improperly set.

  • Cause 2: The ratio of broadcast and multicast packets exceeds the threshold.

Procedure

  1. Cause 1: The threshold is improperly set.
    1. Set a proper threshold. By default, the upper threshold is 50% and the lower threshold is 40%. Check whether the alarm is cleared.
    2. If the alarm persists, go to 2.
  2. Cause 2: The ratio of broadcast and multicast packets exceeds the threshold.
    1. Check the configurations and networking. Clear any loop identified on the network and check whether the alarm is cleared.
    2. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
  3. This alarm does not affect IPTV systems or services. It is advised to disable the monitoring of this alarm in IPTV scenarios.
