Description

The HP_LOM alarm indicates loss of multiframes in the higher order path.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Indicates the optical port number.

Parameter 2, Parameter 3

Indicates the path ID.

Impact on the System

The value of the H4 byte in the payload is inconsistent with the expected values in several consecutive basic frames in the multiframe sequence. The multiframe indication of the VC-12 services is lost. As a result, the VC-12 services are unavailable.

The board inserts VTAIS into the corresponding path (the TU_AIS alarm is reported on the tributary board).

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • Service configurations are incorrect.
  • The H4 byte is lost or has an invalid value.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the service configurations at the opposite end and the local end are correct. If the service configurations are incorrect, modify the configurations and apply the configurations again.
  2. Check on the U2000 whether the HP_LOM alarm is cleared.
    If... Then...

    The alarm is cleared

    No further action is required.

    The alarm persists

    Go to the next step.
  3. Perform an optical path self-loop to check whether the cross-connect unit and the line board at the opposite end are faulty. If it can be determined that the fault is caused by the opposite end, replace the line board at the opposite end. If the alarm persists, replace the system control, cross-connect, and timing board at the opposite end.
  4. Check on the U2000 whether the HP_LOM alarm is cleared.
    If... Then...

    The alarm is cleared

    No further action is required.

    The alarm persists

    Go to the next step.
  5. It can be determined that a board at the local end is faulty. Replace the faulty board.
