P_LOS

P_LOS

Description

The P_LOS alarm indicates that signals received on the PDH side of the E3/T3 tributary board are lost.

Attribute

Alarm Severity Alarm Type

Major

Communication alarm

Parameters

None.

Impact on the System

The services at the port where the P_LOS alarm is reported are unavailable.

If the clock source used by the port where the P_LOS alarm is reported is the synchronization clock source for the NE, the P_LOS alarm triggers switching of synchronization clock sources.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The cable to the output port on the PDH equipment interconnected with the local NE is disconnected, loosely connected, or faulty.
  • The cable to the PDH signal input port is disconnected, loosely connected, or faulty.
  • The cable connecting the PDH equipment to the local NE is faulty.
  • The PDH equipment interconnected with the local NE fails to transmit signals.
  • The signals received by the local NE are not E3/T3 service signals.
  • The E3/T3 tributary board is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the cable to the output port on the PDH equipment interconnected with the local NE is disconnected, loosely connected, or faulty.

    If... Then...

The cable is disconnected, loosely connected, or faulty

Connect the cable correctly or replace the cable. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

The cable is correctly connected and is properly functioning

    Go to the next step.

  2. Check whether the cable to the PDH signal input port is disconnected, loosely connected, or faulty.

    If... Then...

The cable is disconnected, loosely connected, or faulty

Connect the cable correctly or replace the cable. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

The cable is connected correctly and is functioning properly

    Go to the next step.

  3. Check whether the PDH equipment interconnected with the local NE transmits E3/T3 service signals correctly.

    If... Then...

The PDH equipment does not transmit E3/T3 service signals

Correct the configuration of the PDH equipment to ensure that the PDH equipment transmits E3/T3 services to the local NE. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

The PDH equipment transmits E3/T3 service signals correctly

    Go to the next step.

  4. Reseat the E3/T3 tributary board. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

If the services traveling through the tributary board are not configured with protection, reseating or replacing the tributary board interrupts the services.
    If... Then...

    The alarm persists

    Replace the E3/T3 tributary board.

    The alarm is cleared

Contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
