Description

The CHIP_ABN alarm indicates a failure in the voltage chip or temperature chip.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Parameter 1

Indicates the failed chip number.

  • 0x01: failure in the temperature chip
  • 0x02: failure in the voltage chip

Impact on the System

Services carried by the board are not affected.

Possible Causes

The possible cause of the CHIP_ABN alarm is as follows:

  • The temperature chip on the board fails.
  • The voltage chip on the board fails.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the equipment has another cross-connect board that is functioning properly. If yes, perform a cold reset for the board that reports the CHIP_ABN alarm. After a successful cold reset, check whether the alarm is cleared.
    1. If yes, perform a cold reset for the board that reports the CHIP_ABN alarm. For details, see Resetting Boards in Supporting Tasks. After a successful cold reset, check whether the alarm is cleared.
    2. If no, go to 2.
  2. If the alarm persists, replace the board. For details, see Parts Replacement.
