Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The pluggable optical module is not installed or is not correctly installed.
  • The optical module is faulty.
  • The board is faulty.


  1. Check whether a pluggable optical module is correctly installed.

    If... Then...

    The pluggable optical module is not installed or is not correctly installed

    Install the pluggable optical module correctly. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The optical module is correctly installed

    Go to the next step.

  2. Replace the optical module. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    The pluggable optical module on the board supports hot swap.

    If... Then...

    The alarm persists

    Replace the board that reports the alarm.

    The alarm is cleared

    No further action is required.
