Description

The HPS_WP_LATEN_DIFF alarm indicates that the delay difference between the working and protection paths of the hitless protection group exceeds the threshold. This alarm is reported when the delay difference exceeds 12 ms.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Possible Causes

The possible causes of the HPS_WP_LATEN_DIFF alarm are as follows:
  • Cause 1: The distance between the physical links of the working and protection paths of the hitless protection group is excessively long.
  • Cause 2: There are excessive lower-order VC-12 cross-connections on the link.

Procedure

  1. Locate the hitless protection group according to the alarm parameters.
  2. Cause 1: The distance between the physical links of the working and protection paths of the hitless protection group is excessively long.
    1. Adjust the physical link of the working or protection path to shorten the distance between the two physical links.
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.
    3. If the alarm is cleared, reset the protection group.

      Services are transiently interrupted during the reset process.

  3. Cause 2: There are excessive lower-order VC-12 cross-connections on the link.
    1. Check whether the number of NEs on the physical link of the working path are much greater or less than that on the physical link of the protection path.

      If… Then...

      Yes

      • Adjust the physical link of the working or protection path.
      • Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.b.
      • If the alarm is cleared, reset the hitless protection group.
        NOTICE:
        Services are transiently interrupted during the reset process.

      No

      Go to 3.b.

    2. Check whether the number of VC-12 cross-connections on the NE in the working path are much greater or less than that on the NE in the protection path.

      If… Then...

      Yes

      • Adjust the number of VC-12 cross-connections on the NE in the working or protection path.
      • Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.b.
      • If the alarm is cleared, reset the hitless protection group.
        NOTICE:
        Services are transiently interrupted during the reset process.

      No

      Go to 4.

  4. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
