If the FAN_COMM_FAIL alarm is not cleared in a timely manner, the NE may be damaged due to overheat. Then, all services on the NE are interrupted.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The fan board is in poor contact with the backplane.
  • The fan board fails.


  1. Reseat the board to ensure that the board is in good contact with the backplane. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.
  2. Replace the fan board.
  3. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
