Description

The UP_E1_AIS alarm indicates upstream E1 signals. This alarm occurs when a tributary board detects upstream E1 signals of all 1s.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The tributary board interconnected with the local tributary board reports the TU_LOP, TU_AIS, or DOWN_E1_AIS alarm.
  • The tributary board interconnected with the local tributary board reports the T_ALOS alarm.
  • The opposite end reports hardware fault alarms such as PLL_FAIL and CHIP_FAIL.
  • The alarmed board is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the tributary board interconnected with the local tributary board reports the TU_LOP, TU_AIS, or DOWN_E1_AIS alarm.

    If... Then...

    The TU_LOP, TU_AIS, or DOWN_E1_AIS alarm is reported

    Clear these alarms first. Then check whether the UP_E1_AIS alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The TU_LOP, TU_AIS, or DOWN_E1_AIS alarm is not reported

    Go to the next step.

  2. Check whether the tributary board interconnected with the local tributary board reports the T_ALOS alarm.

    If... Then...

    The T_ALOS alarm is reported

    Clear the T_ALOS alarm first. Then check whether the UP_E1_AIS alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The T_ALOS alarm is not reported

    Go to the next step.

  3. Perform a cold reset on the alarmed tributary board by using the NMS or reseat this board. Check whether the UP_E1_AIS alarm is cleared.

    If... Then...

    The alarm persists

    Replace the alarmed tributary board. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers for handling the alarm.

    The alarm is cleared

    No further action is required.
