MS_RDI

MS_RDI

Description

The MS_RDI alarm indicates a remote multiplex section receiving failure. This alarm is generated when the last three bits of the K2 byte in signals received by the line board are 110.

Parameters

None.

Impact on the System

The services at the opposite end are unavailable.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The opposite end receives the R_LOS, R_LOC, R_LOF, MS_AIS, or B2_EXC alarm.

  • The receive unit at the opposite end is faulty.
  • The transmit unit at the local end is faulty.

Procedure

  1. On the U2000, check whether the line board at the opposite end receives the R_LOS, R_LOS, R_LOF, MS_AIS, or B2_EXC alarm.

    If... Then...
The line board at the opposite end receives the R_LOS, R_LOS, R_LOF, MS_AIS, or B2_EXC alarm Clear the R_LOS, R_LOS, R_LOF, MS_AIS, or B2_EXC alarm. Then, check whether the MS_RDI alarm is cleared. If the MS_RDI alarm persists, go to the next step.
The line board at the opposite end does not receive the R_LOS, R_LOS, R_LOF, MS_AIS, or B2_EXC alarm Go to the next step.

  2. If the line board at the opposite end does not receive the R_LOS, R_LOS, R_LOF, MS_AIS, or B2_EXC alarm or the MS_RDI alarm persists after the R_LOS, R_LOS, R_LOF, MS_AIS, or B2_EXC alarm is cleared, the line board is faulty. Perform loopbacks at the local end and the opposite end to locate the faulty line board, and replace the faulty line board.
