TIME_NO_TRACE_MODE

Description

The TIME_NO_TRACE_MODE is an alarm indicating that the IEEE 1588v2 time goes into no-trace mode. This alarm is reported when the IEEE 1588v2 time is enabled but the NE is tracing an internal clock source.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Indicates the alarm cause.

  • 0x01: The IEEE 1588v2 time is enabled at a random interface.
  • 0x02: A random external time interface is configured as the input interface for the IEEE 1588v2 time.

Impact on the System

When this alarm occurs, the IEEE 1588v2 time cannot be synchronized between the upstream and downstream NEs.

Possible Causes

The possible causes of the TIME_NO_TRACE_MODE alarm are as follows:

  • Cause 1: The clock source priority table contains only internal clock sources.
  • Cause 2: The clock source priority table contains other available clock sources, but internal clock sources are traced because of incorrect fiber connections or offline boards.
  • Cause 3: The Announce attribute of the upstream NE is incorrect. As a result, the relevant time source cannot be traced.

Procedure

  1. Cause 1: The clock source priority table contains only internal clock sources.
    1. Configure the clock source priority table again to contain other available clock sources. Check whether the alarm is cleared.
    2. If the alarm persists, go to 2.
  2. Cause 2: The clock source priority table contains other available clock sources, but internal clock sources are traced because of incorrect fiber connections or offline boards.
    1. Check whether the fibers are connected properly or the boards are online. If not, connect the fibers again or insert the board again. Check whether the alarm is cleared.
    2. If the alarm persists, go to 3.
  3. Cause 3: The Announce attribute of the upstream NE is incorrect. As a result, the relevant time source cannot be traced.
    1. Check whether the Announce attribute of the upstream NE is configured correctly. If not, modify the attribute. Check whether the alarm is cleared.
    2. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
