FIB_LEN_CHANGE

Description

The FIB_LEN_CHANGE alarm indicates that the fiber length changes. A fiber length change may affect IEEE 1588v2 time output signals.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Name Meaning

Parameter 1

Indicates the fault type.

  • 0x01: The total fiber length is prolonged.
  • 0x02: The total fiber length is shortened.

Parameter 2, Parameter 3

Indicate the value (unit: meter) that the total fiber length is prolonged/shortened by.

Impact on the System

The fiber deviation value at the slave end may change, which will cause the NE to trace the time abnormally.

Possible Causes

The possible causes of the FIB_LEN_CHANGE alarm are as follows:

  • Cause 1: A fiber cutover has been performed.
  • Cause 2: The peer NE connected by the optical fiber has changed.

Procedure

  1. Cause 1: A fiber cutover has been performed.
    1. Check alarm parameters on the NMS and determine whether the alarmed port has any change, such as a fiber cutover.

    Yes

    Go to 2.

    No

    Re-configure the fiber deviation value. For details, see Configuring the Cable Transmission Offset Between NEs in Feature Description.

  2. Cause 2: The peer NE connected by the optical fiber has changed.
    1. Check whether the fiber deviation value changes.
    If… Then...

    Yes

    Measure the fiber deviation value. For details, see Testing the Compensation for Fiber Asymmetry Delay in Commissioning Guide. Then re-configure the fiber deviation value. For details, see Configuring the Cable Transmission Offset Between NEs in Feature Description.

    No

    Re-configure the fiber deviation value. For details, see Configuring the Cable Transmission Offset Between NEs in Feature Description.

  3. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
