PATCH_OP_TIMEOUT

Description

The PATCH_OP_TIMEOUT alarm indicates that the patch installation times out. This alarm is reported when the patch installation operation times out.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Indicates the patch status.

  • 0x04: The patch is in the loaded state.
  • 0x06: The patch is in the activated state.

Impact on the System

The patch may not take effect on the NE.

Possible Causes

The possible cause of the PATCH_OP_TIMEOUT alarm is as follows:

The Pause Before Current Operation check box is selected during the execution of a patch installation task, but the patch has not been activated or submitted. As a result, the patch is in the loaded or activated state for over 30 minutes.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the patch package is correct.

    If... Then...

    The patch package is correct

    Go to the next step.

    The patch package is incorrect

    Use a correct patch package to perform an upgrade. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.

  2. If the patch package is correct, determine whether to perform subsequent operations based on the patch status.

    If... Then...

    The patch installation needs to be continued

    • If the value of Parameter 1 is 0x04, choose Administration > NE Software Management > NE Upgrade Task Management on the main menu of the NMS. Right-click the patch task name, and choose Continue Task from the shortcut menu to activate and submit the patch. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.
    • If the value of Parameter 1 is 0x06, choose Administration > NE Software Management > NE Upgrade Task Management on the main menu of the NMS. Right-click the patch task name, and choose Continue Task from the shortcut menu to submit the patch. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.

    The patch installation does not need to be continued

    Perform a rollback. The PATCH_OP_TIMEOUT alarm is cleared automatically.

  3. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
