MPLS_PW_BDI

Description

The MPLS_PW_BDI alarm indicates defects in the backward direction of a PW. This alarm is reported when a BDI packet is received at the receive end, indicating that the forward PW is faulty.

This alarm affects services and even causes service interruption on the transmit side at the local end.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the MPLS_PW_BDI alarm are as follows:

  • The physical link between the local NE and the remote NE is faulty.
  • A hardware fault occurs at the remote end.

Procedure

  1. Check whether an optical fiber or a cable between the local NE and the opposite NE is damaged.
    If... Then...

    An optical fiber or cable is damaged

    Replace the faulty optical fiber or cable and check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    An optical fiber or cable is not damaged

    Go to the next step.

  2. On the U2000, check whether any NE on the link reports hardware-related alarms (alarms on optical modules or boards), such as HARD_BAD and LSR_NO_FITED.
    If... Then...

    The HARD_BAD or LSR_NO_FITED alarm is reported

    Handle the HARD_BAD or LSR_NO_FITED alarm, and check whether the MPLS_PW_BDI alarm is cleared. If the MPLS_PW_BDI alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The HARD_BAD or LSR_NO_FITED alarm is not reported

    Go to the next step.

  3. If the MPLS_PW_BDI alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
