Description

The BD_VER_NMAT alarm indicates that the board version does not match. This alarm is reported when the software or hardware version (FPGA version, BIOS version, extended BIOS version, hardware PCB version, or hardware function version) of a board on an OSN 580 is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table of the board. This alarm is reported when the FPGA version of a board on an OSN 550 is inconsistent with the software package version.

NOTE:
  • FPGA: stands for field programmable gate array.
  • BIOS: stands for basic input/output system.
  • Hardware PCB: indicates the hardware module of the printed circuit board (PCB).

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Parameter 1, Parameter 2

Indicate the slot ID of the board that reports an BD_VER_NMAT alarm.

Parameter 3

Indicates the version that is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table for the OSN 580.
  • 0x01: represents the extended BIOS version.
  • 0x02: represents the software version.
  • 0x03: represents the FPGA version.
  • 0x04: represents the BIOS version.
  • 0x05: represents the PCB version.
  • 0x06: represents the hardware function version.
Indicates the version that is inconsistent with the software package version for the OSN 550.
  • 0x03: represents the FPGA version.
Parameter 4
If the value of Parameter 3 is 0x06 and the logical board is EFS8 for the OSN 580, the values of Parameter 4 are as follows:
  • 0x01: TNH1EFS8 board
  • 0x02: TNH2EFS8 board

Possible Causes

If the BD_VER_NMAT alarm is reported for an OSN 580, the possible causes are as follows:
  • Cause 1: The software version of the board reporting a BD_VER_NMAT alarm is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table.
  • Cause 2: The hardware version (that is, FPGA version, BIOS version, extended BIOS version, or PCB version) of the board reporting a BD_VER_NMAT alarm is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table.
  • Cause 3: The hardware function version of the board is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table.

If the BD_VER_NMAT alarm is reported for an OSN 550, the possible cause is as follows:

  • Cause 1: The FPGA version of the board is inconsistent with the software package version.

Procedure

  1. Query the alarm on the NMS for the OSN 580. View Parameters 1 and 2 to determine the board that reports the alarm, and view Parameters 3 and 4 to determine the version that is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table.

    If… Then…

    The FPGA version, BIOS version, extended BIOS version, or software version of the board is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table,

    Upgrade or downgrade the board to ensure that the FPGA version, BIOS version, extended BIOS version, and software version of the board are consistent with those in the version mapping table.

    The PCB version of the board is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table,

    Replace the PCB hardware module to ensure that the PCB version is consistent with that in the version mapping table.

    The hardware function version of the board is inconsistent with that in the version mapping table,

    Use a board with the correct hardware version to replace the board (for example, use the TNH3EFS8 board to replace the THN1EFS8 board).

  2. Query the alarm on the NMS for the OSN 550. View Parameters 1 and 2 to determine the board that reports the alarm, and view Parameter 3 to determine the version that is inconsistent with the software package version.

    If… Then…

    The FPGA version of the board is inconsistent with the software package version,

    Perform a cold reset on the board to restore the FPGA version of the board to the correct one. A cold reset may interrupt services. Evaluate the impact on services and perform a cold reset at an appropriate time.

  3. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
