The PWAPS_SWITCH_FAIL alarm indicates a switching failure in the PW APS protection group. This alarm is reported when the request signals in the transmitted Automatic Protection Switching (APS) frame are different from the bridge signals in the received APS frame and this symptom lasts for 50 ms.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of the PWAPS_SWITCH_FAIL alarm are as follows:

The parameter values of the PW APS protection groups at two ends are inconsistent.


  1. On the U2000, check whether the settings of the PW APS protection groups are consistent at both ends. For example, "Protection Group ID", "Protection Type", and "Protection Mode".
    If... Then...

    All parameter values are consistent

    Go to the next step.

    Parameter values are inconsistent

    Modify the parameter settings of the PW APS protection groups to be consistent and check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

  2. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
