Description

The MSAD_CROSSTR alarm indicates that a multiplex section adaptation performance indicator of the line board crosses the threshold.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The performance threshold is set to an inappropriate value.
  • Multiplex section bit errors occur.
  • The loop clock is distorted.

Procedure

  1. On the U2000, check whether the thresholds of multiplex section adaptation performance indicators regarding AUPJCHIGH, AUPJCLOW, and AUPJCNEW are within the specified ranges.

    If... Then...

    The threshold of a multiplex section adaptation performance indicator is out of range

    Change the threshold to the default value. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The thresholds of the multiplex section adaptation performance indicators are within the specified ranges

    Go to the next step.

  2. View alarms on the U2000 to check whether the board that reports the MSAD_CROSSTR alarm also reports other multiplex section bit error alarms, such as B1_EXC, B1_SD, B2_EXC, or B2_SD.

    If... Then...
    The B1_EXC, B1_SD, B2_EXC, or B2_SD alarm is reported

    Clear the B1_EXC, B1_SD, B2_EXC, or B2_SD alarm. Then, check whether the MSAD_CROSSTR alarm is cleared. If the MSAD_CROSSTR alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The B1_EXC, B1_SD, B2_EXC, or B2_SD alarm is not reported

    Go to the next step.

  3. Check whether the clock tracing in the entire network is correctly configured.

    If... Then...

    The clock tracing is incorrectly configured

    Re-configure the clock tracing correctly. After the configured performance monitoring period ends, check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The clock tracing is correctly configured

    Go to the next step.

  4. Perform loopbacks at the local end and the opposite end to locate the faulty board.

    If... Then...
    A board at the opposite end reports a multiplex section adaptation performance event The transmit unit at the opposite end is faulty. Replace the faulty board.
    A board at the local end reports a multiplex section adaptation performance event The receive unit at the local end is faulty. Replace the faulty board.
