Impact on the System

A small pointer justification does not affect the services, whereas a large pointer justification causes bit errors in the services. External causes:

  • A fiber is incorrectly connected, resulting in a clock loop of the two NEs.

  • If the NEs trace the external clock, check the quality of the external clock.

Human factors:

  • The configuration of the clock source is incorrect. There are two clock sources in one network.

  • The configuration of the clock source tracing priority is incorrect. The clocks of the two NEs trace each other.

Equipment problems:

  • The line board is faulty. As a result, the clock is of poor quality.

  • The clock unit is faulty. As a result, the clock source is of poor quality, or the traced clock source cannot be locked.
