The TEMP_ALARM alarm indicates that the temperature crosses the threshold.

Environment alarm


When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Parameter 1

Indicates the threshold-crossing type.

  • 0x01: The temperature is higher than the upper threshold.
  • 0x02: The temperature is lower than the lower threshold.

Impact on the System

The optical module may be damaged and services are interrupted.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • The ambient temperature of the board is high.
  • The ambient temperature of the board is low.
  • The alarmed board is faulty.


  1. Query the alarm on the NMS and determine the threshold-crossing type according to Parameter 1.
  2. Check the temperature of the NE frame.

    If... Then...

    The ambient temperature of the board is high

    Lower the ambient temperature to the normal range. Check whether the TEMP_ALARM alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The ambient temperature of the board is low

    This may be caused by hardware faults of the board. Go to 3.

    The ambient temperature of the board is normal

    Go to 4.

  3. Check whether the board reports any hardware-related alarms, such as HARD_BAD.

    If... Then...

    The board reports any hardware-related alarm

    Clear these alarms first. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to the next step.

    The board does not report any hardware-related alarm

    Go to the next step.

  4. Replace the faulty board.
