PCM_64KSNCP_UNAVAIL

PCM_64KSNCP_UNAVAIL

Description

The PCM_64KSNCP_UNAVAIL alarm indicates that 64K subnetwork connection protection (SNCP) is unavailable.

Attribute

Alarm Severity Alarm Type

Major

Processing error alarm

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Name Meaning

Parameter 1, Parameter 2

Indicate a protection group ID.

Parameter 3

Indicates the source working signaling value.

Parameter 4

Indicates the source protection signaling value.

Parameter 5

Indicates the sink signaling value.

Impact on the System

64K SNCP is unavailable.

Possible Causes

The possible causes of the PCM_64KSNCP_UNAVAIL alarm are as follows:

  • Cause 1: The 64K SNCP group type is configured incorrectly.
  • Cause 2: The active and standby links of the 64K SNCP group are in the SF state (signal failure).
  • Cause 3: The active and standby links of the 64K SNCP group are faulty.

Procedure

  1. Cause 1: The 64K SNCP group type is configured incorrectly.
    1. Find the protection group configuration based on the protection group ID. Then check whether the protection group type is consistent with the actual service type. For example, if the protection group type is an audio service but the actual service type is not an audio service, the PCM_64KSNCP_UNAVAIL alarm may be reported.

      If… Then...

The protection group type is inconsistent with the actual service type,

Delete the incorrect protection group, add a 64K SNCP group, and ensure that the protection group type is consistent with the actual service type. For details, see Configuring 64K SNCP in Feature Description.

The protection group type is consistent with the actual service type,

      Go to 2.

  2. Cause 2: The active and standby links of the 64K SNCP group are in the SF state (signal failure).
    1. Check the onsite conditions (for example, whether the switching conditions are consistent between the NEs at both ends) to determine whether 64K SNCP switching conditions can be modified, and perform operations accordingly.

      If… Then...

64K SNCP switching conditions can be modified

You are advised to set A, B, C, and D to 1 for the NEs at both ends. Go to 2.b.

64K SNCP switching conditions cannot be modified

Modify voice signaling configurations (off-hook and on-hook signaling values, and ensure that the new signaling values are different from the values of Parameters 3 to 5). For details about the operation method, see Configuring a PCM Port in Configuration. For details about signaling configuration parameters, see Advanced Configurations in Configuration.

Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.

    2. In the Main Topology, right-click the desired NE and choose NE Explorer from the shortcut menu. Choose Configuration > 64K SNCP Service Control from the Function Tree. Click Switching Condition, and set A, B, C, and D to 1.

  3. Cause 3: The active and standby links of the 64K SNCP group are faulty.
    1. Check whether the fiber or electrical cable to the port on the NE is faulty.
      If… Then...

The fiber or electrical cable is faulty,

Replace the faulty fiber or electrical cable. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 4.

The fiber or electrical cable is normal,

If the alarm persists, go to 4.

  4. Contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
