Description

The FXO_POWER_FAULT alarm indicates the absence of a feeding current on a foreign exchange office (FXO) port. An FXO port on an NE reports an FXO_POWER_FAULT alarm when failing to receive a feeding signal.

As shown in Figure 4-4, an FXO port on NE 2 connects to a private branch exchange (PBX), which connects to plain old telephone service (POTS) telephone sets. An FXO port on NE 2 reports an FXO_POWER_FAULT alarm when failing to receive a feeding signal from NE 1.

Calls set up on a PBX that connects to an NE reporting an FXO_POWER_FAULT alarm are interrupted.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • Cause 1: The transmission line between the NE reporting an FXO_POWER_FAULT alarm and the equipment supplying a feeding current to the NE is malfunctioning.
  • Cause 2: The received current exceeds the threshold allowed by FXO ports.
  • Cause 3: The board reporting an FXO_POWER_FAULT alarm is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Cause 1: The transmission line between the NE reporting an FXO_POWER_FAULT alarm and the equipment supplying a feeding current to the NE is malfunctioning.
    1. Check whether the transmission line is cut, is damaged, or is malfunctioning. If a fault is found, replace the transmission line.
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 2.
  2. Cause 2: The received current exceeds the threshold allowed by FXO ports.
    1. Change Min. Current (mA) or Max. Current(mA) of FXO ports. For details, see Configuring a PCM Port in the Configuration Guide (SDH Transport Domain).
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 3.
  3. Cause 3: The board reporting an FXO_POWER_FAULT alarm is faulty.
    1. Replace the board.
    2. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei engineers to handle the alarm.
