FXS_POWER_FAULT

Description

The FXS_POWER_FAULT alarm indicates that a telephone line connecting to a foreign exchange subscriber (FXS) port and a 220 V electrical power cable are in contact. An FXS port on an NE reports an FXS_POWER_FAULT alarm when detecting that a telephone line and a 220 V electrical power cable are in contact.

As shown in Figure 4-6, an FXS port on NE 1 connects to plain old telephone service (POTS) telephone sets. An FXS port on NE 1 reports an FXS_POWER_FAULT alarm when detecting that the blue and red wires in a telephone line and a 220 V electrical power cable are in contact.

Impact on the System

An FXS port reporting an FXS_POWER_FAULT alarm fails to provide services.

Possible Causes

The possible cause of this alarm is as follows:

  • Cause 1: A telephone line connecting to the FXS port that reports an FXS_POWER_FAULT alarm and a 220 V electrical power cable are in contact.
  • Cause 2: The FXS port is damaged.

Procedure

  1. Check whether a telephone line connecting to the FXS port and a 220 V electrical power cable are in contact. If a telephone line connecting to the FXS port and a 220 V electrical power cable are in contact, disconnect the telephone line from the 220 V electrical power cable.
  2. Check whether the FXS port is damaged. If the FXS port is damaged, replace the board housing the FXS port.
  3. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei engineers to handle the alarm.
