The SYNC_CONFIG_ERR alarm indicates that the clock source configurations of an NE are incorrect.

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Parameter 1, Parameter 2

Indicate the slot ID of the board that reports the SYNC_CONFIG_ERR alarm.

Parameter 3

Indicates the mapped virtual port number on the board.

Parameter 4
Indicates the cause why the SYNC_CONFIG_ERR alarm is reported.
  • 0x01: The port number configured for the clock source is not the virtual port number.

Impact on the System

The clock source cannot trace the port for which the alarm is reported.

Possible Causes

The port number configured for the clock source is not the first port number in the corresponding virtual port group on the board, and the first virtual port is not created.


  1. Identify the virtual port number according to the alarm parameters, and check whether this port is the first port in each virtual port group.

    If… Then...


    Add the first virtual port to the virtual port group corresponding to the clock source. Then check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, go to 2.


    Go to 2.

    • The virtual SDH ports on an HUNS3 board can be divided into four groups: 51(V_SDH-1) to 54(V_SDH-4), 55(V_SDH-5) to 58(V_SDH-8), 59(V_SDH-9) to 62(V_SDH-12), and 63(V_SDH-13) to 66(V_SDH-16).
    • The virtual port configured for the clock source can only be 51(V_SDH-1), 55(V_SDH-1), 59(V_SDH-1), or 63(V_SDH-1).
    • For example, if the virtual port 52(V_SDH-1) in the first group is configured for the clock source, change the virtual port to 51(V_SDH-1).

  2. Delete the alarmed clock source from the clock source priority list, or lower the priority of the clock source.
  3. Check whether the alarm is cleared. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
