CLK_NO_TRACE_MODE

Description

The CLK_NO_TRACE_MODE alarm indicates that the clock changes to the non-tracing running state. This alarm is generated when the current clock does not trace any line clock source, tributary clock source, or external clock source.

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Parameter 1, Parameter 2

Indicates the path ID.

  • 0x01: The clock changes from the tracing state to the hold state.
  • 0x02: The clock changes from the tracing state to the free-run state.

Impact on the System

The system clock is of poor quality. When the poor-quality clock results in the out-of-synchronization status among NEs, the bit error rate of services increases.

Possible Causes

Possible causes of this alarm are as follows:

  • A system priority table is not manually configured, and NEs use their own default priority tables.
  • A system priority table is configured, but only the internal clock source in the priority table can be traced.

Procedure

  1. Query the system priority table.

    If... Then...

    The system priority table contains only the internal clock source

    Add other available clock sources to the system priority table. The alarm is automatically cleared.

    The system priority table contains the internal clock source and other available clock sources

    Find out why other clock sources cannot be traced. Go to the next step.

    NOTE:

    If other clock sources cannot be traced, the common causes are as follows:

    1. The existence status of other clock source is lost.
    2. The SSM protocol is enabled on the local NE but is disabled on the upstream NE.

  2. Optional: If existence status of other clock source is lost, the system reports the SYNC_C_LOS alarm. Clear the SYNC_C_LOS alarm. The system can trace any other clock source except the internal clock source. The CLK_NO_TRACE_MODE alarm is automatically cleared.
  3. Optional: If the SSM protocol is enabled on the local NE but is disabled on the upstream NE, enable the SSM protocol on the upstream NE. The system can trace any other clock source except the internal clock source. The CLK_NO_TRACE_MODE alarm is automatically cleared.
