BWUTILIZATION_OVER

BWUTILIZATION_OVER

Description

The BWUTILIZATION_OVER alarm indicates that bandwidth usage exceeds the threshold. If traffic received or transmitted by monitored objects exceeds the traffic threshold and the bandwidth usage exceeds the acceptable value, the BWUTILIZATION_OVER alarm is reported.

QoS alarm

Parameters

When you view an alarm on the network management system, select the alarm. In the Alarm Details field display the related parameters of the alarm. The alarm parameters are in the following format: Alarm Parameters (hex): parameter1 parameter2...parameterN. For details about each parameter, refer to the following table.

Name Meaning

Parameter 1

Indicates the direction in which the bandwidth utilization rate exceeds the threshold.

  • 0x00: indicates that the traffic in the receive direction exceeds the traffic threshold.
  • 0x01: indicates that the traffic in the transmit direction exceeds the traffic threshold.

Impact on the System

When this alarm occurs, the network is congested.

Possible Causes

The possible causes of the BWUTILIZATION_OVER alarm are as follows:

  • Cause 1: The traffic received or transmitted by a monitored object exceeds the traffic threshold.
  • Cause 2: The configured bandwidth usage threshold for a monitored object is low.

Procedure

  1. On the NMS, view alarm information to determine the alarm-reporting object.
  2. Check whether a network storm or a large amount of invalid data exists. If the preceding problem exists, eliminate the source that creates a large amount of invalid data. Alternatively, reduce the data traffic from the peer end by enabling flow control or configuring QoS.
  3. If the alarm persists, check whether the bandwidth threshold configured for the object is too low. If the threshold is too low, expand network capacity.
  4. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers to handle the alarm.
