Configuring Multiplexer Group Services

Multiplexer group services cover four service scenarios: data-P2MP, data-meeting, VF-P2MP, and VF-meeting, providing customers more easy-to-use and reliable options for point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint audio and data communication.

Configuring Data-P2MP Services

Data-P2MP services provides data communication between the master and slave terminals. Services from the master is broadcast to all slaves, and the master receives the combination of services from all slaves.

Networking Diagram

This section describes the networking of NEs.

Data-P2MP services provides data communication between the master and slave terminals. Services from the master is broadcast to all slaves, and the master receives the combination of services from all slaves.

On the network shown in Figure 2-30, the control center needs to remotely control and collect data from the client terminals at different places. The service plan is detailed as follows:

  • NEs transfer 2.4 kbit/s sub-rate services between each other.
  • NE1 is the data-P2MP service point, which has a control member connecting to the control center and three common members connecting to three client terminals.
  • NE1 interchanges data with NE2-NE4 through SDH cross-connections.
  • Sub-rate services are configured on NE2-NE4 for data service access from the three members.

Service Planning

This section describes the parameters required for configuring data-P2MP services.

First, configure the sub-rate encapsulation mode for all the NEs, as shown in Table 2-37.

This section describes how to configure data-P2MP services.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Configure a data-P2MP service on NE1.
    1. On NE1, configure the sub-rate encapsulation mode.



    2. Set port attributes for the data-P2MP service access port.

    3. Configure a data-P2MP service.



    4. Configure the cross-connection between the data-P2MP service and an SDH link.



      Configure the cross-connections for the SDH links from the 7-DXM-66 (SDH_TU_66) and 7-DXM-67(SDH_TU_67) ports to the line board according to the plan described in Table 2-42.

  2. Repeat 1.a to configure the subrate encapsulation modes of NE2, NE3, and NE4 according to the plan described in Table 2-37.
  3. Repeat 1.b to set port management parameters for NE2, NE3, and NE4 according to the plan described in Table 2-39.
  4. Configure 64 kbit/s service parameters for NE2.



    Repeat 4 to set 64 kbit/s service parameters for NE3 and NE4 according to the plan described in Table 2-41.

  5. Repeat 1.d to configure the cross-connections for the SDH links of NE2, NE3, and NE4 according to the plan described in Table 2-42.
  6. Check whether the services are correctly configured by following instructions in Testing Data-P2MP Services.
  7. Enable the performance monitoring function for the NEs by following instructions in Enabling NE Performance Monitoring.

Configuring Data-Meeting Services

Data-meeting services allow data communication between multiplexer group members, where each branch station selects one valid service from the other branch stations.

Networking Diagram

Data-meeting services allow data communication between multiplexer group members, where each branch station selects one valid service from the other branch stations.

Figure 2-31 shows the connection diagram for configuring data-meeting services. Remote control and data collection need to be performed between different sites. The service plan is detailed as follows:

  • NEs transfer 2.4 kbit/s sub-rate services between each other.
  • NE5 is the data-meeting service point, which has four common members with all members being peers to each other.
  • NE5 interchanges data with NE1-NE4 through SDH cross-connections.
  • Sub-rate services are configured on NE1-NE4 for data service access from the four members.

NOTE:
  • Members in a data-meeting group cannot be configured as a ring. If they form a ring, service faults may occur. For example, in Figure 2-32, each NE is configured with a data-meeting service. Each multiplexer group has three common members, two of which use the internal E1 ports on the DXM (for example, ports 65 and 66 in Figure 2-32) to cascade with two neighboring NEs. In this networking, services may be unavailable.
  • In data-meeting mode, each member receives a combination of services from all the other members. Therefore, ensure that only one of the services from the other members is valid.
  • Two or more members in a multiplexer group must not be configured as inloops or outloops. If two or more members are configured as inloops or outloops, service conflict alarms may be reported on members and service faults may occur.

Figure 2-33 shows the networking diagram for VF-P2MP services. The central site needs to remotely communicate with and collect data from branch sites at different places. The service plan is detailed as follows:

  • NE1 is the service bearer point. A control member and three common members are configured.
  • Hotline services are configured on NE1-NE4 for voice service access from members.
  • NE1 interchanges data with NE2-NE4 through SDH cross-connections.
  • The audio selection policy can be specified by the customer to a with/without-signaling mode.

Configuration Process

This section describes how to configure VF-meeting services.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Configure a VF-meeting service on NE5.
    1. Configure framed E1 ports on NE5.



    2. Configure a VF-meeting service.



    3. Configure the cross-connection between the VF-meeting service and an SDH link.



      Repeat 1.c to configure the cross-connections for the SDH links from the 7-DXM board to the 2-SL1Q-2, 2-SL1Q-3, and 2-SL1Q-4 ports according to the plan described in Table 2-60.

  2. Set port management parameters for NE1.



    Repeat 2 to set port management parameters for NE2, NE3, and NE4 according to the plan described in Table 2-57.

  3. Set 64 kbit/s service parameters for NE1, NE2, NE3, and NE4.



    Repeat 3 to set 64 kbit/s service parameters for NE2, NE3, and NE4 according to the plan described in Table 2-59.

  4. Repeat 1.c to configure the cross-connections for the SDH links of NE1, NE2, NE3, and NE4 according to the plan described in Table 2-60.
  5. Check whether the services are correctly configured by following instructions in Testing VF-Meeting Services.
  6. Enable the performance monitoring function for the NEs by following instructions in Enabling NE Performance Monitoring.
  7. Back up the configuration data of the NEs by following instructions in Backing Up the NE Configuration Data to the SCC Board.
