Modifying the Protection Subnet
This topic describes how to modify the configuration data of the existing protection subnet.

Before you delete an NE or a fiber/cable connection on the U2000, you need to delete the related protection subnets.
Changing the Values of Protection Subnet Parameters
In the case of the SDH equipment, you can set the parameters of the MSP protection subnet by using the protection subnet maintenance function.
Prerequisites
- You must be an NM user with "network maintainer" authority or higher.
- The data of each NE must be configured and the fibers must be created on the U2000.
- The MSP protection subnet must be configured.
Procedure
- Choose SDH Protection Subnet Common Attributes dialog box is displayed. from the Main Menu. Then, the
- Select an MSP protection subnet from the pane on the left. The attribute information of the protection subnet is displayed in the pane on the right.
- Click the Protection Subnet Parameters tab.
- Click Query to query the parameters of the protection subnet on the MSP ring.
- Click the WTR Time (s) text box and enter a value.
NOTE:
The default WTR time is 600s. You can also set the WTR time to a value from 300s to 720s. - Optional: Select SD Condition.
- Click Apply. Then, click Close in the Operation Result dialog box indicating that the operation succeeded.
Deleting Protection Subnets
Before you delete an NE or a fiber/cable connection on the U2000, you need to delete the related protection subnets.
Prerequisites
- You must be an NM user with "network maintainer" authority or higher.
- If trails are configured on the protection subnet that you need to delete, delete the trails first.
Procedure
- Choose from the Main Menu.
- Right-click the protection subnet to be deleted and choose
, , or from the short-cut menu.
NOTE:
The methods of deleting a protection subnet are as follows:
- Delete from the NM is selected, the relations between the protection subnet and each logical system on the NE side are deleted so that the fibers can be deleted and reloading can be performed. This command is not delivered to the NE and does not affect the services. The deleted protection subnet can be located by using the search feature. The U2000 locates it according to the NE layer protection information. : If
- Delete from the NE is selected, the protection subnet, logical systems on the NE side, and all the services on the protection subnet are deleted. The deleted protection subnet cannot be restored and needs to be created again. : If
- Delete All from the NM is selected, the data of the protection subnet except the fibers at the network layer is deleted. The deleted protection subnet can be located by using the search feature. It is recommended that you do not select this option, because a large amount of data is deleted. : If
- Click Yes in the Operation Prompt dialog box indicating that the operation succeeded. Then, the Operation Result dialog box is displayed.
NOTE:
Ifis selected, you need to confirm the operation again. - Click Close.
