Specifies the V5 byte to be transmitted. The V5 byte is used for bit error monitoring, signal labeling, and VC-12 path status indication.

When used for signal labeling, the V5 byte can be displayed in text format or hexadecimal format. The value of this parameter is displayed in text format. The mapping between the text format and the hexadecimal format is as follows:

  • 0x00: Unequipped or Supervisory-unequipped
  • 0x01: Equipped-Non-Specific Payload
  • 0x02: Asynchronous
  • 0x03: Bit Synchronous
  • 0x04: Byte Synchronous
  • 0x05: Retained Signal Flag
  • 0x06: O.181 Signal
  • 0x07: VC-AIS
  • 0x08: Other Mapping (For Test)
  • 0x09: ATM Mapping
  • 0x0A: HDLC/PPP Mapping
  • 0x0B: HDLC/LAPS Mapping
  • 0x0C: Virtual Connection Test Signal (0.181 Special Mapping)
  • 0x0D: GFP Mapping
