Configuration Process (Networking with a Switch)

Configuration Process (Networking with a Switch)

The core of configuring SEP is to create SEP protection instances. For ports connected to the switch, you also need to change their DCN protocol type.

Description

1

Creating SEP Protection Instances

Mandatory. Set parameters as follows:

  • Set Instance ID, East Port, East Port Configuration Role, West Port, East Port Configuration Role, Control VLAN, Preemption Delay(s), TC Suppression Time Interval(s), and Authentication according to the network plan.
  • When setting Control VLAN, note the following:
    • In a SEP segment, the control VLAN is used to transmit only SEP packets.
    • Each SEP segment must have a control VLAN.
    • If different ports are configured with different SEP segments, they can use the same control VLAN.
    • If different ports are configured with different SEP segments, they can use the same control VLAN.
  • Because the switch does not support authentication, set Authentication Type to No Authentication.

2

Configuring Port DCN Protocols

Mandatory.

  • Set Protocol Type of the ports connected to the switch to SuperL2DCN to ensure that the DCN protocol between the devices and the switch is normal.
  • Retain the default values for other ports.

3

Configuring the Port Blocking Mode

Optional.

Configure the Port Blocking Mode as planned. Generally, the default value is recommended.

4

Configure the port priority

Optional.

Configure the user-defined Priority as planned. Generally, the default value is recommended.

NOTE:
The higher the value, the higher the priority.

5

Configuring the Preemption Mode

Optional.

Configure the Preemption Mode as planned. Generally, the default value is recommended.

NOTE:
Only the master node supports the preemption mode configuration.
