Applying for a Desktop ECS

Applying for a Desktop ECS

This section instructs VDC administrator or VDC operator to apply for a desktop ECS on the ServiceCenter tenant portal.

You have logged in to the ServiceCenter tenant portal using the resource administrator account created in Dividing Cloud Resources.

  1. On the ServiceCenter tenant portal, choose Computing > Elastic Cloud Server and click Create ECS.
  2. Set the parameters according to Table 6-2. Retain the default values for the parameters that are not involved or set the parameters according to the actual requirements. Click Apply Now.

    Table 6-2 Parameter configuration

    ECS Name

Specifies the name of the desktop ECS. You can set this parameter as required, for example, FA-desktop_00x.

If you want to create multiple desktop ECSs at a time, the system automatically sequences these ECSs.

Specifies a physical region where resources use independent power supplies and networks. AZs are physically isolated but interconnected through an internal network. To enhance application availability, create ECSs in different AZs.

Configure the value based on site requirements.

Configure the value based on site requirements.

    Image Type

    Public Image

Select the image registered in Creating an Image or Registering a VM Image based on the OS version and resource type.

Set the value based on the actual disk capacity and quantity.

A disk is also called an EVS disk, which can be a system disk or a data disk.

    • You can create multiple data disks for an ECS and customize the disk size.
    • The system disk size is equal to the Min Disk (GB) set during image registration.

vpc-VDI. The VPC has been created in Dividing Cloud Resources.

    Security Group

sg-Desktop_vpc-VDI. The group is automatically created using AutoInstall in Performing an Automated Installation.

Add a NIC and specify it to service subnet subnet-Desktop. You do not need to specify an IP address.

An EIP specifies a static public IP address bound to a desktop ECS in a VPC. Using the EIP, the desktop ECS can provide services externally.

You can select one of the following three options for EIP as required:

    • Do Not Use: Without an EIP, the desktop ECS cannot access the Internet and is used only in the private network or in a cluster.
    • Automatically Assign: The system automatically assigns an EIP for the desktop ECS. The EIP provides exclusive bandwidth.

If Automatically Assign is selected, ensure that the EIP quota is sufficient. Otherwise, ECS provisioning will fail.

    • Specify: An existing EIP is assigned for the desktop ECS. When using an existing EIP, you cannot create ECSs in batches.

    Login Mode

The login method is optional and has a key pair and password. You are advised to select Password and set a password. The password is the initial password of the administrator. After FusionAccess is imported into the desktop, the password of the administrator is randomized.

Set the number of desktop ECSs to be created. A maximum of 20 ECSs can be created at a time.

If EIP is set to Specify, batch creation is not supported.

  3. On the specifications confirmation page, confirm the specifications. Then, click Submit.
