Creating an APS Server Image (FusionCompute)

Creating an APS Server Image (FusionCompute)

Scenarios

This section describes how to create an APS server image on FusionCompute.

Prerequisites

  • You have installed FusionCompute.
  • You have obtained the ISO files of Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • You have obtained the FusionAccess_Windows_Installer_V100R006C20SPC102.iso file.

Procedure

Creating a VM template

  1. See Step 1 to Step 24 in Creating a Windows VM Template.

Using the template tool to configure the APS VM

  1. Mount FusionAccess_Windows_Installer_V100R006C20SPC102 to the VM.
  2. On the VM, double-click the CD/DVD-ROM.

    NOTE:

The FusionAccess Windows Installer window is displayed after the CD-ROMs of some VMs are double-clicked.

  3. Double-click run.bat.

    Figure 8-2 is displayed.

    NOTE:
    • On Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, the system asks you to enable the .NET Framework 3.5 function. Then the tool window is displayed automatically and you do not need to restart the OS.
    • On other OSs, the tool window is displayed directly.
    Figure 8-2 FusionAccess Windows Installer

  4. Click Create Template.

The window for creating a template is displayed.

  5. Perform other operations as prompted.

    NOTE:
    • Set the virtualization environment to FusionSphere(OpenStack).
    • On the Core Components page, select SBC.
    • For details about how to configure the desktop controller, see Step 41 in Creating a VM Template.
    • During the operation, if you are prompted to restart the VM, use the administrator account to log in to the VM after the VM is restarted.
    • If an exception occurs during the restart (restart fails), manually start the VM, mount the template tool ISO file again, and go to the template tool directory to reinstall the template tool.
    • If Configure user login is not selected during template creation, users in the Users group cannot log in to the APS VM locally but can use remote applications or shared desktops for login.
    • During the configuration of HDC, if a message is displayed indicating that the HDC address is unreachable and asking you whether to continue, ignore the error and proceed with the subsequent operations.
    • Default system accounts in the Users and Remote Desktop Users groups cannot be deleted, foe example, Authenticated Users.

  1. Uninstall the CD/DVD-ROM drive from the VM.

Creating a temporary admin user

Cloudbase-Init randomizes the password of user Administrator. To prevent login failure after randomization, create a temporary account and reset the password of user Administrator.

  1. Create a local user admin and add the user to the Administrators group by referring to Creating Local Users of Windows System.

Installing the Cloudbase-Init software

NOTE:
  • If the Cloudbase-Init mode is enabled for FusionSphere, install Cloudbase-Init.
  • If Cloudbase-Init is not enabled for FusionSphere (that is, the default FusionCompute file injection mode), do not install Cloudbase-Init. Go to Step 12.
  1. See Step 50 to Step 53 in Creating a Windows VM Template.

Deleting local users

NOTE:

A local user of the Windows system can log in to each Windows VM created by the image. For security reasons, you are advised to delete unnecessary local users in the Windows system as needed.

  1. Delete the temporary user admin by referring to Deleting Local Users of Windows System.
  2. Delete other unnecessary local users in the Windows system as needed.
  1. In the FusionAccess Windows Installer window, click Sysprep, as shown in Figure 8-3.

Before using Sysprep, confirm that the IP address and the DNS server address can be automatically obtained.

Figure 8-3 Encapsulating the VM template

  2. After the template is encapsulated, click Finish.
  3. Uninstall the CD/DVD-ROM drive from the VM.
  4. Stop the VM.

Registering a VM image

  1. For details about how to register a VM image, see Registering a Windows VM Image.
