Scenarios

This section describes how to create an OU in the user domain of the active AD/DNS server and how to add user groups and domain users to the OU to uniformly manage users.

NOTE:

During the FusionAccess installation, an infrastructure server OU has been created for managing the domain users of infrastructure VMs.

Prerequisites

You have logged in to the active AD server using the administrator account.

Data

Table 6-1 describes the data required for performing this operation.

The domain user account consists of digits, letters, Chinese characters, spaces, and special characters such as `~!#$%^&()-_{}.

The password must conform to the following rules:

  • Contains at least one uppercase letter (A to Z), one lowercase letter (a to z), one digit (0 to 9), and one space or special character (~!@#$%^&*()-_=+\|{};:'",<.>/?).
  • Contains 8 to 32 characters.
  • Cannot be the same as the recent three passwords.
  • Cannot contain the username or reversed username.
  • Username: JRS0001
  • Password: Singlecloud123#

Procedure

Creating an OU

  1. On the active AD server, choose > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers.

    The Active Directory Users and Computers window is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, right-click a domain name, and choose New > Organizational Unit.

    The New Object - Organizational Unit window is displayed.

  3. Enter the OU name in the Name text box and click OK.

    NOTE:

    The OU name consists of digits, letters, Chinese characters, spaces, and special characters such as _$!@&.*?.

    To create a child OU, right-click the name of the parent OU and choose New > Organizational Unit.

Creating a user group

  1. On the active AD server, choose > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers.

    The Active Directory Users and Computers window is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, right-click the target OU name and choose New > Group.

    The New Object - Group window is displayed.

  3. Set Group name, retain the default values for Group scope and Group type, and click OK.

    NOTE:

    The group name consists of digits, letters, Chinese characters, spaces, and special characters, such as `~!#$%^&()-_{}.

    The user group is successfully created. The new user group is displayed in the right pane.

Creating a domain user

  1. On the active AD server, choose > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers.

    The Active Directory Users and Computers window is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree on the left, right-click the target OU name and choose New > User.

    The New Object - User window is displayed.

  3. Configure registration information of the domain user.

    Figure 6-1 shows the operation.

    NOTE:
    • User logon name specifies the domain account of the user. The parameter value is used when you assign VMs.
    • If User logon name is different from User logon name (pre-Windows 2000), User logon name (pre-Windows 2000) is used as the user login domain account to assign VMs.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter the new password of the domain user in Password and Confirm password.
  6. Select User must change password at next logon and click Next.
  7. Click Finish.

    The domain user is successfully created. The new domain user is displayed in the right pane.

  8. Decide whether to add the domain user to a user group.

    • If yes, go to Step 15.
    • If no, no further action is required.

Adding the domain user to a user group

  1. In the right pane, right-click User name and choose Add to a group.

    The Select Groups window is displayed.

  2. Enter the user group name in Enter the object names to select.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the displayed dialog box, click OK.
