Logging In to a VM Using a Linux PC

Logging In to a VM Using a Linux PC

Scenarios

If domain authentication is used for user login, you can log in to your VM using a Linux PC. Login is successful only when domain authentication is successful.

NOTE:
  • The initial configuration described in this section needs to be performed only once on each terminal device.
  • The data required for the initial configuration and specific configuration procedure can be customized based on the actual situation.
  • The Linux Software Client supports the following Linux OSs:
    • Red Hat 6.6 x32/x64
    • Ubuntu 14.04 x32/x64
  • Linux PC login only supports basic display and keyboard and mouse.
  • Available disk space of the Linux PC is more than 500 MB. Memory must not be less than 2 GB and CPU frequency must not be less than 2.0 GHz.
  • The Linux Software Client supports overwriting during installation, but does not support upgrading and uninstallation.
  • Linux does not support login using a browser.

Prerequisites

The installation package of the Linux Software Client is available.

Data

Key data and parameters required for this task are described in the specific procedures.

Software

Table 7-1 lists the required software.

Description

Linux Software Client

The Linux Software Client has two types of installation packages:

  • 32-bit Linux OS: AccessClient_x86lnx.run
  • 64-bit Linux OS: AccessClient_x64lnx.run

Path to obtain the package:

For enterprise users, click here.

For carrier users, click here.

Download Client_for_linux_x86_vx.x.xxxxx.zip or Client_for_linux_x64_vx.x.xxxxx.zip, and decompress the file.

For example, for a 32-bit Linux OS, the installation package is AccessClient_x86lnx.run in the decompressed file.

Procedure

Install the Linux Software Client.

  1. Copy the Linux software client installation package to a folder on the Linux PC, for example, /usr/local.
  2. Run the following command and enter the password of user root to switch to user root:

    su - root

  3. Run the following command to go to the installation package directory:

cd Directory where the installation package is located

    Example: cd /usr/local

  4. Run the following commands to set the read and write permissions of the installation package:

    chmod 777 Installation package name

For example, run the following command to set the read and write permission of a 32-bit Linux software client installation package:

    chmod 777 AccessClient_x86lnx.run

  5. Run the following command to install the Linux Software Client:

    ./Installation package name

    Example: ./AccessClient_x86lnx.run

Do not turn off the VM. After the installation is completed, the system automatically restarts.

  6. Log in to the Linux PC again.

For Ubuntu 14.04 (32/64-bit) or later, you need to install the gksu software after logging in to the Linux PC again.

    • If the PC is connected to the Internet:

Run the following command to install the gksu software online:

      sudo apt-get install gksu

    • If the PC is not connected to the Internet:
      1. Obtain the gksu installation package from the Ubuntu official website and copy it to the local PC.
      2. Run the following command to install the gksu software package:

sudo dpkg -i Software package name.deb

For example: sudo dpkg -i gksu_2.0.2-6ubuntu2_amd64.deb

Use the Linux Software Client to log in to the desktop.

  1. On the PC OS, double-click .

    The Authenticate window is displayed.

  2. Enter the password of user root. Click Authenticate.

The Address Manager window is displayed.

  3. NOTE:
