Closing the NETCONF Session

Closing the NETCONF Session

After sending a configuration request, the client sends a <close-session> RPC request to close the NETCONF session. This mechanism reduces resource usage on server and client. When the server receives the <close-session> request, it releases all locks and resources of the session, closes the connection, and ignores all subsequent requests.

  • A sample of CLOSE-SESSION request packet

<rpc message-id="101" xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:netconf:base:1.0">

</rpc>
]]>]]>
  • A sample of CLOSE-SESSION successful response packet
