Applying for a Desktop ECS

Applying for a Desktop ECS

Scenarios

This section instructs VDC administrator or VDC operator to apply for a desktop ECS on the ManageOne operation plane.

Prerequisites

You have logged in to the ManageOne operation plane using the VDC administrator or VDC operator account created in Dividing Cloud Resources.

Procedure

  1. On the ManageOne operation plane, choose Computing > Elastic Cloud Server and click Create ECS.
  2. Click Apply for under the Desktop ECS created in Defining a User Desktop ECS.
  3. Set the parameters according to Table 6-3. Retain the default values for the parameters that are not involved or set the parameters according to the actual requirements. Click Apply Now.

    Table 6-3 Parameter configuration

    Parameter

    Description

    ECS Name

Specifies the name of the desktop ECS. You can set this parameter as required, for example, FA-desktop_00x.

If you want to create multiple desktop ECSs at a time, the system automatically sequences these ECSs.

    AZ

Specifies a physical region where resources use independent power supplies and networks. AZs are physically isolated but interconnected through an internal network. To enhance application availability, create ECSs in different AZs.

    vCPU

Configure the value based on site requirements.

    Memory

Configure the value based on site requirements.

    Image Type

    Public Image

    Image

Select the image registered in Creating an Image based on the OS version and resource type.

    Disk

Set the value based on the actual disk capacity and quantity.

A disk is also called an EVS disk, which can be a system disk or a data disk.

    • You can create multiple data disks for an ECS and customize the disk size.
    • The system disk size is equal to the Min Disk (GB) set during image registration.
    NOTE:
    • If Share Disk is selected, the data disk can be attached to multiple ECSs.
    • A shared disk can be attached to a maximum of 16 ECSs.

    Usage Duration

Set this parameter based on the actual usage duration.

It specifies the applied usage duration of a desktop ECS and begins from the time when the desktop ECS was created. You can use the ECS within the duration. When the usage duration ends, the status of the ECS becomes Expired. A desktop ECS in the Expired status can only be renewed or deleted.

    VPC

vpc-VDI. The VPC has been created in Dividing Cloud Resources.

    Security Group

sg-Desktop_vpc-VDI. The group is automatically created using AutoInstall in Performing an Automated Installation.

    NIC

Add a NIC and specify it to service subnet subnet-Desktop. You do not need to specify an IP address.

    EIP

An EIP specifies a static public IP address bound to a desktop ECS in a VPC. Using the EIP, the desktop ECS can provide services externally.

You can select one of the following three options for EIP as required:

    • Do Not Use: Without an EIP, the desktop ECS cannot access the Internet and is used only in the private network or in a cluster.
    • Automatically Assign: The system automatically assigns an EIP for the desktop ECS. The EIP provides exclusive bandwidth.
      NOTE:

If Automatically Assign is selected, ensure that the EIP quota is sufficient. Otherwise, ECS provisioning will fail.

    • Specify: An existing EIP is assigned for the desktop ECS. When using an existing EIP, you cannot create ECSs in batches.

    Login Mode

The login method is optional and has a key pair and password. You are advised to select Password and set a password. The password is the initial password of the administrator. After FusionAccess is imported into the desktop, the password of the administrator is randomized.

    Quantity

Set the number of desktop ECSs to be created. A maximum of 20 ECSs can be created at a time.

    NOTE:

If EIP is set to Specify, batch creation is not supported.

  4. On the specifications confirmation page, confirm the specifications. Then, click Submit.
