Adding a Data Disk

Adding a Data Disk

Scenarios

This section describes how to create a data disk and mount it to a backup server on Service OM.

Prerequisites

You have logged in to the ManageOne OM plane and accessed the Service OM page.

Procedure

Creating a Disk

  1. On the Service OM page, choose Storage > EVS > Disks and click Create.
  2. Set the parameters according to Table 4-13. Retain the default values for the parameters that are not involved, and then click OK.

    Table 4-13 Disk parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Name

    FA-Pub-Backup-Datadisk

    Availability Zone

Set this parameter to the availability zone where the FA-Pub-Backup VM is located, for example, manage-az.

    Capacity (GB)

    500

  3. Choose System > Tasks and Logs > Task Center to check the disk creation progress.

When the status becomes Succeeded, the disk is successfully created.

Mounting a Disk

  1. Choose Computing > ECS > Compute Instances. Locate the row that contains the FA-Pub-Backup VM, and choose More > Stop. Wait until the status of the VM changes to Stopped.
  2. Choose Storage> EVS > Disks, and find the newly created disk.
  3. Choose More > Bind VM, select the FA-Pub-Backup VM, and click OK.
  4. Choose System > Tasks and Logs > Task Center to view the disk mounting progress.

When the status becomes Succeeded, the disk has been mounted successfully.

  5. Choose Computing > ECS > Compute Instances. Locate the row that contains the FA-Pub-Backup VM, and click Start. Wait until the status of the VM changes to Running.
  6. Log in to the FA-Pub-Backup VM using VNC as user root.

    NOTE:

The startup may take several minutes. Enter the password for user root when you are prompted with the message "Give root password for maintenance".

  7. Run the following command to query the name of the new disk based on the disk size:

    fdisk -l

Record the disk name in the command output, for example, /dev/sda.

  8. Run the following command to mount the data disk to the backup path /var/ftpsite:

    sh /opt/BackupServer/partitions_and_mount.sh Disk name

Use /dev/sda as an example. Run the following command:

    sh /opt/BackupServer/partitions_and_mount.sh /dev/sda

Wait for several minutes. If information similar to the following is displayed, the disk is mounted successfully.
